When you’re a single mother of three pursuing a degree, you do what’s necessary to get by. Sometimes that means applying for a job with an unpopular reputation, like customer service at a call center. “It was never my intention to stay,” Annetta said, assuming it would be something she’d just have to ‘survive’—but then something changed her mind.
Working at America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) was like nothing Annetta had ever experienced. “You’re not going to find this atmosphere anywhere else,” she said. “You care for the people that come in here. You get to know everyone, and whether they stay for two years or twenty, you want them to do well and succeed.”
APHW management have been a huge source of support for Annetta. “When I first started here, there were quite a few times when I had to leave to take care of my children. I was always able to communicate with my supervisor and leave quickly,” she said. “It was good to know I could talk to them and be able to do what I needed to.”
That support has certainly paid off. Two and a half years later, Annetta is now focusing her education toward rising in the APHW ranks. “I’m actually starting school in the spring for management,” she said, adding that she also recently applied for a supervisor role.
All of her hard work is paying off as well—the leadership recognized Annetta as the February Employee of the Month. “I was getting congratulated before I even knew what was going on,” she joked. “It was a really nice surprise to come in to.”
