Employee review: “We all learn together”

Sometimes a simple experience is worth sharing. That’s what Accounts Receivable Clerk Sam has with America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW), and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sam started with the company in May of 2021, after an interview made APHW sound perfect for her. “Everyone seemed to truly care,” she recalled. “And even now, even if I don’t know the person coming in the building, they always say hello and ask how my morning is going. It’s actually very nice.”

That family feeling extended into her department, where her team takes on challenges together. “It’s really a team effort. Everyone on my team shows me new things, or I show them new things,” she said. “We all learn together to figure things out.”

Another perk of working at APHW, according to Sam, is the opportunity for growth. “They definitely provide opportunities to learn and grow, in your own department and others. You get the best of both worlds and see the inside of everything,” she shared. “The leadership are very kind, too; they always have a story to joke about, and they’re very approachable.”

Sam noted that APHW often hires from within, as well, to give team members the first opportunity for advancement. “It’s been great, and I love what I do,” she said.

It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that APHW recognized Sam recently as Employee of the Month for March 2023—but it did surprise her. “It was rather shocking, to be honest,” she laughed. “I had no idea that was going to happen, but it’s nice to be recognized! It’s nice to know they’re looking and know you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing. It makes you feel good about yourself, actually.”

Sam shared that “Of course!” she would recommend APHW to future applicants. “I’m hoping to finish my degree soon, and I would love to stay here and continue growing in the company and learning more afterward,” she said.

Sam also had some advice for those who apply: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions,” she said. “I know a lot of people refrain because they don’t want to be judged, or don’t want to feel like they don’t know something. But questions really contribute toward making people’s lives easier, and it’s never judged here.”
