Making Our Agreement Easy to Read—Truly
What if reading a contract was easy?
What if the company highlighted everything important, repeated key points, and made the claims process simple to find?
That’s exactly how we do things at America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW).
How It Started
Our original contract? Just a standard carbon-copy stack—simple and functional. But in 2013, that began to change.
When Marketing Director Jeff Fett (then a graphic designer) joined the team, he saw an opportunity for improvement during a ride-along with an Area Sales Manager near Detroit.
“I watched a real estate agent grab our warranty off a shelf and plop it down in front of their client like a dead fish,” Jeff recalled. “You could tell they didn’t want to explain it. And the homeowner, already drained from signing a pile of legal documents, looked overwhelmed—another document?”
That moment stuck with Jeff. He realized our contract had to be more than functional—it had to be inviting.
A New Direction
“Usually, when someone pulls out their home warranty, it’s during a crisis,” Jeff explained.
“I wanted it to be user-friendly. The claims process needed to be easy to find. And families needed to know that they’re our top priority.”
So, the contract got a total makeover—transforming from a carbon copy into a colorful, bound brochure, designed with families in mind. The new cover? It features people, not just property. Because at APHW, you come first.

“We’re here to support homeowners,” Jeff said. “Whether it’s helping maintain systems and appliances or stepping in when something goes wrong—APHW is here to help.”
