How ‘Striving for better’ brought Rachel Solomon into the APHW family

When Rachel first received a LinkedIn message from an America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) recruiter, her interest was piqued. “Though I wasn’t looking at the time,” the role of Area Sales Manager (ASM) looked like a super cool job, and when Rachel felt she had outgrown her current position and wanted something more hands-on, she took the chance and applied for the position.

While interviewing, Rachel appreciated how she was kept informed every step of the way, and by the end she was convinced: “It was the perfect match for me—I really loved the company,” she said.

Rachel joined the APHW family in December 2019, just months before COVID-19 shook up the world. “My training class was lucky because we were hired about a month before the last in-person Sales Meeting,” she said, describing how all the ASMs convene annually to share, learn, and grow. “We got a real feel for the culture; we wouldn’t have had that bonding experience otherwise.”

The ‘APHW Family’ isn’t just a metaphor, according to Rachel; it’s a concept come to life. “Throughout my time with APHW, there have been hardships that I’ve gone through, and I’ve been able to speak to trainers about it,” she said. Rachel has truly enjoyed connecting with as many people in the company as possible.

Though she’s fairly new to Florida, being an ASM has already made her familiar with her area. “It has been a really great way for me to explore where I live and find things I wouldn’t encounter working a desk job,” she stated. “I’ve met a lot of people through this job—agents have turned into friends and family.”

Rachel believes in the power of partnership and meets Florida real estate agents with the mindset that, “We’re not vendors—we’re partners,” she said. She wants everyone to “be comfortable enough to reach out to me, knowing that I will have the answer for them and that I’m the one they can count on.” In short, Rachel said, “I’m their girl!”

Looking ahead, Rachel is excited for what will happen with APHW’s dynamic growth, adding that she would love to take on a leadership role eventually. “There’s such a team dynamic down here in Florida that I would love to be a Team Leader,” she said.

For those who are hesitant to step into a new chapter at APHW, Rachel says, “Do it.”

“I spent years being so scared to do the things that I wanted to do. I’m a twin, and my twin and I had previously done everything together. I took that jump, and I couldn’t be happier and more independent right now,” Rachel said. “Striving for better and taking that leap is always worth it if you continue to push yourself.”
