Two years ago, April was working at a fabric and crafts store. After hearing from former coworkers about the opportunities offered at America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW), she contacted our HR department and began weaving a new chapter. It has been nearly two years since April joined APHW, and she hasn’t looked back.
She began as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) and has already earned multiple promotions in the Customer Service Department. “I’m just very customer service oriented,” she said with a smile. April shares her wonderful attitude and sense of humor with her colleagues as well. “I love the family atmosphere here,” she said. “I don’t feel like I’m coming in to work—I almost feel like I’m coming in to see my friends!
At every level, April is welcome and celebrated. “Everyone is here for one another,” she stated. “If you go to a different department to ask a question, they don’t look at you funny. Everyone is so nice, and Rod and Randy are two of the most giving men I’ve ever met—I appreciate them so much.”
APHW is not just a positive environment; this is also the place where April has been able to thrive. “I feel like my confidence is higher now than when I started. I wasn’t always good with homeowners who were in crisis, but now, I regularly take supervisor calls. It’s not personal; they’re people who are ultimately looking for solutions, and we can help.”
These days, April gets to show others the ropes. “I get to do ‘Day in the Life’ shadowing to help interested candidates learn about what being one of our CSRs is actually like. I show them what it’s like so they can see if they’d be a good fit. I also do floor support for our CSRs who are working from home.”
When asked how she felt when she found she is our October 2021 Employee of the Month, April told me, “It feels awesome. I was shocked, I wasn’t expecting it at all, but it’s nice to work for an employer who appreciates your hard work!” April continues to succeed in new tasks and at new levels, and she sees APHW continuing to do the same.
