APHW Claims Process

Has a covered item broken down at your home? America’s Preferred Home Warranty is here to help! Our easy claims process helps you get your claim started fast, so you can get your home back to normal as soon as possible.


Start a claim by phone or online

When a covered item breaks down, you can make a claim with America’s Preferred Home Warranty in two ways.

  • Start a claim online
  • Call customer service at 800.648.5006
  • After your claim is complete, you will receive a claim number from APHW.

Hire a licensed contractor

Once you have a claim number, you can schedule a licensed contractor of your choice to diagnose the problem. When speaking with the contractor, just explain what system or appliance isn’t working.

If you mention you have a home warranty, please let the contractor know they can still use their own rates and parts.

Call for approval while the contractor is present

Once your licensed contractor has diagnosed the problem and before any repairs have started, simply call customer service at 800.648.5006.

The contractor will explain the problem to APHW and provide APHW with a quote for repairs. Based on the contractor’s diagnosis, we’ll determine if the problem is covered. If the item and repair are covered, APHW will approve the claim and determine the coverage amount right over the phone.

Arrange payment for your claim

APHW offers a range of flexible options to pay the contractor after repairs are complete. These include:

  • ACH (bank) reimbursement
  • Check reimbursement
  • Credit card direct to the contractor

You’ll still pay a deductible, which will be based on the plan you’ve selected.

Once we’ve arranged payment with your contractor, you can get back to enjoying your home.
