How do I get a human? Simply call in!

You’ve come to expect, “Please press 1 for this, press 2 for that,” but then you get another list. And another. You’ve built your own phrases to get a real person more quickly: Operator, Representative, and even, “How do I get a human?” It’s extremely frustrating—but you deal with this system because it’s your only option... right? America’s Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) believes in a better way.

We do have an opening list, but just the one: And it’s designed to get you to the best group of actual people to help. “We wanted to route the calls to the right skilled individuals as quickly as possible,” said APHW Vice President of Operations Mike Sadler. “Each team is trained in a specific area, so you get the best service available.”

Here’s an easy ‘cheat sheet’

  • 1 to open a new claim (or you can file a claim online at APHW.COM)
  • 2 if you have a contractor on site
  • 3 if you’re a REALTOR® or other real estate professional
  • 5 for all other callers
  • 6 if you know your extension

That’s it. That’s the whole list, just 5 options. (Though we do have plans to add a Spanish language option soon.) “Our goal is to answer your call with a real human being as quickly as possible,” Mike said.

Now, we’ll admit: Some points of the year are busier than others. While you may wait a bit longer during peak seasons, however, you should know we’re doing everything possible to expedite things for you. “We’re adding new members to the team every month to meet our goals, and we kept our average low even throughout the pandemic, with most of our staff working from home,” Mike said.

Why do we work so hard to achieve this? “Because we’ve all been there,” Mike said. “When the furnace isn’t working or the A/C stops in the middle of summer, everybody’s uncomfortable. We’ve all experienced that, so we want to make sure we do everything we can to quickly resolve your problem and get things back up and running as soon as possible.”
